The short version
This website doesn't use cookies. There are no analytics, no ads and no tracking pixels. The only thing it keeps is your "My trip" list, saved in your own browser because you asked for it. That's why you haven't seen a cookie banner.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website leaves in your browser. Local storage, tracking pixels and device fingerprinting do similar jobs. Sites use them to remember your settings, count visitors, or follow you around the web with adverts.
What this site uses
No cookies, and no analytics, advertising or social media trackers. We do use your browser's own storage for two small things, both for features you use yourself:
| Name | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| mk-trip (local storage) | Remembers the parks, waterfalls and trip types you add to "My trip", so the trip planner can include them in your message | Until you remove them or clear this site's data in your browser |
| mk-seen (session storage) | Notes that you've already seen the opening animation, so it doesn't play on every page | Until you close the tab |
Neither one leaves your device or reaches us, and neither is used to track you. They only exist to make features you asked for work, which is why the law doesn't require a consent banner for them.
Files from other companies
To show the pages properly, your browser fetches our fonts straight from Google. That isn't a cookie, but it does send them your IP address and some basic details about your browser.
| Company | What it supplies | Cookies? |
|---|---|---|
| Google Fonts (Google LLC) | The typefaces on every page | None, according to Google's Fonts privacy FAQ |
Our Privacy Policy explains what happens to that information.
When you leave our site
Our links to WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and TripAdvisor take you to other websites. They set their own cookies under their own policies, and we have no control over them, so it's worth checking each one.
If we ever add cookies
Say we decide to add analytics one day, or anything else that stores or reads information on your device. Before it goes live, we'll update this page and list every cookie: who sets it, what it's for and how long it lasts. We'll also ask your permission before setting anything that isn't strictly necessary, and you'll be able to change your mind later.
Blocking cookies yourself
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Since we don't set any, blocking them won't break anything here.
